U.S. Navy Helium Helmet

This is a standard Mark V Model I U.S. Navy Diving Helmet which has been modified in accordance with Navy specifications so as to be usable with Helium / Oxygen breathing mixtures. A canister is mounted on the rear of the helmet, and a venturi re-circling system uses the canister to scrub CO2 from the re-circulated gas. The breastplate is the same as the standard Mark V breastplate, and all other parts and accessories are inter-changeable except that the standard control valve is modified so that it may be used in the helium mode. The canister can be removed, and the inlets from the canister into the helmet can be sealed with brass caps. The helmet is then usable with air and a standard control valve as the equivalent of a Mark V.
